Our House System
The house system at Ipswich High School is integral to our vibrant community. It offers our students diverse opportunities to enrich their school journey. Our vision for the house system is to cultivate a shared identity among students, fostering a supportive network during friendly competition. Unlike so many other House systems, we have designed ours to make sure that every pupil in the school can find events that they genuinely want to participate in and where they feel they can excel. By participating in these events students will be winning points for their House but also competing alongside friends in their year group, as well as students from across the Prep School, Senior School and those in the Sixth Form.

Our Houses
Our four Houses are Aqua, Ignis, Terra and Ventus. These names and logos were created and voted for by our students.
Across the school, each pupil and nearly every member of staff is a member of a House, and siblings will always be together in the same House.

Prep School
All Prep School pupils have unique opportunities to participate within our House system. We have an impressive number of House competitions running each year that pupils can compete in and the variety is huge. From the Young Musician and Prep Vocal Championships, to dance, sporting events, a swimming gala, poetry recital, dressing up for World Book Day and even a talent show โ there is something for everyone.
Senior School
As a Senior School student, there are unique opportunities to participate in and lead our House system. All students can compete in a number of our House competitions across the year. We have over 40 competitions running each year and the variety is huge, from โUltimate Frisbeeโ, to a talent show, a swimming gala, dressing up for World Book Day and even a Bake Off โ there is something for everyone.
Perhaps most importantly, as a Senior School student, there is the chance to apply for various House student leadership positions. Students in Years 10 and 11 can apply for and become House Captains, whilst those in Years 7 to 9 can apply to become our House Vice Captains. Those appointed play a significant part in the life of the whole school, including supporting the other students who hold House leadership positions and the House Presidents in Sixth Form.
