Introducing a Bold New Pathway: IHS x Brave Generation

Ipswich High School has always prided itself on innovation, enrichment, and delivering a truly personalised education. This summer, weโre proud to launch a groundbreaking new partnership that brings something entirely new to the UK education landscape.
On 4 July, we hosted an online launch event to introduce our exciting collaboration with Brave Generation Academy (BGA) โ a global education organisation offering a flexible, hybrid learning model that empowers young people to pursue academic excellenceย andย personal passions.
As the first UK school to partner with BGA, Ipswich High School will offer a new, fully integrated pathway for pupils from Year 7 upwards. Whether students aspire to gain IGCSEs, A Levels, US diplomas, or even begin their university studies from age 16, this programme makes it possible, all within the vibrant community of our school.
What is Brave Generation Academy?
Brave Generation Academy operates in eight countries with over 60 hubs worldwide. Their model blends self-paced online learning with in-person support from dedicated Learning Coaches. Itโs designed to give pupils ownership over their education, enabling them to learn in a way โ and at a pace โ that suits them best.
At Ipswich High School, the BGA Hub will sit at the heart of Woolverstone Hall, providing a co-working-style learning space that encourages independence, creativity, and accountability โ all supported by our experienced team.
A Day in the Life of a BGA Learner
BGA pupils are full members of Ipswich High School. They register with their peers, join assemblies, eat lunch together, and access the full enrichment programme โ including sport, drama, music, and trips. The key difference? Their academic lessons happen in the BGA Hub, where they follow a personalised timetable and online curriculum tailored to their goals.
Pupils can study the British International Curriculum, the US Core Curriculum, or the APP (Accelerated Pathway Programme), which allows them to begin degree-level study from age 16. Pathways are flexible and adaptive, supporting both high-achieving learners and those with other interests such as elite sports or creative pursuits.
Flexibility Meets Opportunity
Head of School, Mr Dan Browning, spoke passionately during the event about why now is the right time to innovate:
โWeโre incredibly proud of our tradition and our 150-year history, but weโre also forward-looking. Our partnership with BGA allows us to open up new possibilities for young people here in the UK and internationally โ whether day pupils or full boarders. This is about expanding access to the IHS experience and making education truly fit the individual.โ
BGAโs CEO, Tim Vieira, added:
โWe want to give learners the best of both worlds: the richness of offline school life and the flexibility of personalised online learning. Weโre not trying to change the child to fit the system โ weโre changing the system to suit the child.โ
