Ipswich High School Celebrates Continued A-Level Success

Ipswich High School, a leading independent school in Suffolk, is proud to announce another year of exceptional A-Level results, with students once again demonstrating remarkable academic achievement across a broad range of subjects.
In 2025, the school has further increased its value added, continuing to ensure that pupils exceed their expected progress. We have also maintained our historic high levels of A*-B pass rates, reflecting both the dedication of our students and the expertise of our teaching staff.
The accomplishments of this year’s leavers will see them progress to an impressive range of destinations, including some of the UK’s most prestigious universities and courses, as well as exciting pathways in the arts, sciences, and industry. These successes are the result of years of hard work, supported by a nurturing and ambitious school community.
Maria Stone, Head Girl, achieved A* in Dance, A in Drama and A in Musical Theatre. After joining Ipswich High in Year 5, she will now train at Norland College to become a Norland Nanny. Maria said, “Ipswich High has been my home since Year 5, and it has shaped who I am. The school has given me the confidence and character I need for my future and being Head of School was a privilege. I am proud to have helped make our community even better, and working with Mr Browning was an honour.”
Emily Knight, achieved A*AA at A Level (A* PE, A Biology, A Chemistry) plus an A* in her EPQ. After being at IHS since Year 7, she will study Sports Science at the University of Birmingham. Emily commented, “I was genuinely shocked when I opened the results, then really proud. I’ve been at IHS since Year 7, and the community here is so supportive. The best bits are the simple ones: time in the common room, catching up with friends, and the buzz of playing in sports teams. Sixth Form life has been a lot of fun. I’m excited to study Sports Science at Birmingham.”
Willow Hider achieved AAB in her A levels (A in History, A in Politics, B in Psychology) and will be attending the University of Warwick to study Politics and International Studies. A SpringBoard student who joined our Sixth Form in 2023, Willow commented, “I’ve loved the two years I’ve spent here. Sixth Form is intense, and I could not have done it without the support of my teachers and friends. My favourite memories are simply time in the common room with friends, laughing over lunch, and taking little breaks in the Sixth Form kitchen. It is such a supportive and close community.”
Lexi White, achieved A*AB (A* in Psychology, A in Biology, B in Chemistry) and will be attending the University of Warwick to study Biochemistry with an integrated Master’s and a placement year. Lexi said, “IHS is such a supportive place. The sciences work closely together, and my teachers and friends were always there, so it never felt overwhelming; there was always a helping hand. My favourite memories are simple ones: having lunch on the river lawn, taking walks around the campus, and running fun science experiments and games with the younger years.”
Harry Booty, achieved ABD in his A levels (Politics, Computer Science, and Maths) will join the University of East Anglia to study Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Harry said, “I’ve wanted to go into computing forever, and specialising in cybersecurity is exactly what excites me. What I will remember most about IHS is the friends I’ve made here. Standout moments for me are The High School Musical production and my first rugby match. Great memories.”
Dan Browning, the school’s Head, commented: “I am immensely proud of our pupils and the incredible effort they have put into their studies. Their achievements reflect not only their determination but also the dedication of our talented staff and the unwavering support of their families. As our leavers take their next steps, they do so with the skills, confidence, and values that will help them flourish for years to come. They will always remain part of the IHS family.”
Looking ahead, Ipswich High School remains committed to providing the foundations to flourish for all our students, while encouraging them to be inspired, happy, and successful individuals. We congratulate all our students and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
