Another Year of Exceptional GCSE Results at Ipswich High

Ipswich High School, a leading independent school in Suffolk, is proud to announce another year of exceptional GCSE results, with students achieving outstanding success across all subjects. The number of grade 9s has doubled; 60% of pupils achieved grades 9–8; and the number of pupils receiving grades 9–7 has increased by 50%.
Madeleine Welsh, who achieved an outstanding set of GCSEs with all grade 9s and one 8, will stay at Ipswich High for Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A Level to pursue a career in Medicine. Outside the classroom, Madeleine is a talented musician currently through to the later stages of National Youth Orchestra auditions, and she also competes in dry-slope skiing with Snowsport England. Madeleine commented, “I’ve been at Ipswich High since I was three and I’m really happy with my results.”
Jude Mason, who achieved grade 9s across all subjects and one grade 8, will be studying four A Levels at IHS, including Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Jude commented, “I’m really happy with my results. I joined Ipswich High in Year 9 and I’m excited to stay on for Sixth Form, my goal is to study medicine at university.”
Alva Holmefjord Phillips, who achieved an exceptional set of GCSEs including mainly grade 9s, will be studying History, Chemistry, Maths and Biology at A Level. Alva commented, “I’ve been at Ipswich High since Year 3 and I’m really proud of my results. I’m excited about my future and university and would love to go to Cambridge, and I’m interested in studying law.”
Louis Fallon, who achieved eight grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7, will be studying Further Maths, Maths, Physics and Economics at A Level. Louis, who joined Ipswich High in Year 9, commented, “I’m really pleased with my results.” He hopes to pursue aerospace engineering at university.
Fionnuala Willis, who achieved an amazing set of GCSEs including multiple grade 9s, will be studying five A Levels; Maths, Further Maths, Economics, Physics and Computer Science. Fionnuala commented, “I’ve been at Ipswich High since 2012 and I’m really happy with my results.” She hopes to pursue engineering in the future, with a particular interest in motorsport.
Dan Browning, the school’s Head, is impressed with the GCSE pupils’ performance: “I am delighted for the pupils receiving their results today, they have worked so hard and have been brilliantly supported by their teacher and families. I am particularly pleased that the number of top grades awarded has massively increased. Many will be continuing their studies in our Sixth Form, but I wish them all, wherever their next steps take them, the very best for the future. They will always remain part of our IHS family.”
